(June 1, 2018) – On Monday night, June 4, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will set structural steel beams on the northbound US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway) Bridge over MD 26 (Liberty Road) in Frederick County. Motorists can expect brief, total traffic stoppages as crews install the new steel beams.

The brief closures will begin at 11 p.m. Monday and all lanes should reopen no later than 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 5. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Flippo Construction Company, Inc. of Forestville, will use variable message signs and Maryland State Police guide motorists through the work zone. MDOT SHA expects to have all steel beams set during the work hours.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
