MD 480 at Central Avenue in Ridgely to Become an All-Way Stop

(August 9, 2018) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is converting the intersection of  in Caroline County to a four-way stop.

This change will improve intersection operations and reduce congestion in the town of Ridgely during peak travel periods. Currently, only motorists on Central Avenue are required to stop.

Work includes installation of stop signs on MD 480, resurfacing and restriping. On average more than 3,000 vehicles travel this intersection each day. The change will be in place by Labor Day.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands. This intersection improvement is one of the many projects that will be underway this summer and fall. For more information on State-maintained roads in Caroline County, customers may call the SHA District 2 Office at 410-810-3210 or toll-free at 1-800-637-9740.
