New Ramp Will Enable Closure of Left Turn from US 15 to Hayward Road

(August 15, 2018) – On Thursday, August 16, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will open the ramp from northbound US 15 to Monocacy Boulevard as part of the US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway)/Monocacy Boulevard Interchange project. The ramp opening enables MDOT SHA to permanently close the left turn lane from US 15 onto Hayward Road, improving safety at the intersection.

Works continues on the $61 million project. In mid-fall, crews will open the two remaining southbound ramps to and from Monocacy Boulevard, the hiker/biker trail, and the 400-space park and ride, substantially completing the project.

MDOT SHA encourages drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone, remaining especially alert for the new traffic patterns.
