Temporary Traffic Changes Necessary for Paving Operations

(August 16, 2018) – Beginning August 28, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will shift traffic on westbound MD 175 (Annapolis Road) to the right beginning at Walker Drive. Additionally, crews will close the left turn lane from MD 175 to Reece Road. The shift and closure are necessary for crews to pave the roadway. The temporary traffic changes will be in place for about a month.

Approximately 25,000 vehicles use this section of MD 175 each day through Fort Meade, so motorists should plan extra commute time. For more information about the MD 175 project, click here.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
