MDOT SHA Logo)(December 11, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is paving the newly constructed roundabout US 219 (Chestnut Ridge Road) and I-68 (National Freeway) in Garrett County. The work began at 7 a.m. and traffic will be detoured until its expected completion at 7 p.m. While the paving is taking place, motorists will be guided through the following detour: I-68 eastbound traffic headed north on US 219 will be detoured via Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road Chestnut Ridge Road northbound traffic traveling to US 219 will be detoured to Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road US 219 southbound traffic headed to Chestnut Ridge Road or eastbound I-68 will be directed to Exit 19 , MD 495 (Bittinger Road) I-68 westbound traffic headed north or south to Chestnut ridge Road or eastbound I-68 will be detoured via Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road Portable message signs and directional signs are in place on I-68 to help motorists navigate through the detour.
