Daytime Work Will Repair Curb, Gutter and Inlets Along in Finksburg Area

(October 19, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will start a project this week to improve drainage and sidewalks in both directions of MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) between Old Gamber Road and Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg, Carroll County.

Starting 9 a.m. Friday, October 21, crews will close the right travel lane and shoulder near Old Gamber Road to safely perform the work. Flagging operations will be used to maintain traffic at intersections and side streets that connect to MD 140.

The lane closure and flagging will take place only in the area where the crew is working, not the entire project limits. MDOT SHA contractor MIM Construction Inc., based in Frederick, will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists and guide them through the work zone.

The project will focus on curb, gutter, inlets and sidewalk repairs along one mile of roadway. Work is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and is expected to be complete by mid-November.

The Move Over Law in Maryland requires motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
