Project To Enhance Traffic Flow and Safety in Hebron
(February 25, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close the median at the intersection of US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and Old Railroad Road to install concrete islands beginning Monday, March 2.
This work is part of the US 50 at Old Railroad Road improvement project that will include the installation of a traffic signal, along with updated signage and pavement markings. The entire intersection project is expected to be complete by Friday, June 12, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Traffic Systems, Inc., will work between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and use message boards, and orange drums to safely guide motorists.
The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
