***TRAFFIC ALERT*** MDOT SHA PAVING SECTIONS OF I-695 (BALTIMORE BELTWAY) / EDMONDSON AVE. INTERCHANGE IN BALTIMORE COUNTY THIS WEEKEND

​April 16, 2021 - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will be paving sections of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and the I-695/Edmondson Avenue interchange in the Catonsville area of Baltimore County this weekend. Starting at 7 p.m. tonight, April 16, crews will work on Edmondson Avenue beneath the I-695 bridge. Starting Sunday night, crews will be working on I-695 South/Outer Loop between US 40 and MD 144. On Monday, they will be milling I-695 North/Inner Loop between MD 144 and US 40.    

The work will include the following lane closures:

  • Edmondson Avenue beneath the I-695 bridge - Tonight, Saturday and Sunday, crews will work 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can expect single lane closures and flagging operations for two-way traffic.
  • I-695 South/Outer Loop between US 40 and MD 144 interchanges - Sunday, April, 18, crews will have left lane closures on I-695 OL between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday, April 19; and 7 p.m. Monday, April 19 through 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 20.
  • I-695 North/Inner Loop between MD 144 and US 40 - Overnight lane closures 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights starting Monday, April 19, for milling work.   

In case of inclement weather, the paving work and temporary lane closures will be rescheduled to the next possible night.    

The work is part of MDOT SHA’s $68 million project to widen southbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) between south of US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road). Learn more about the project HERE.
