Motorists Can Expect Intermittent Bridge Openings between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

(April 4, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform routine maintenance on the MD 181 (Compromise Street/Sixth Street) Bridge over Spa Creek in Annapolis on Wednesday, April 6.

The work, being performed by contractor Covington Machine and Welding Inc., includes intermittent test openings of the bridge between 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Wednesday. The duration of test openings will be similar to a typical opening for a passing vessel. Motorists are encouraged to leave more travel time to reach their destinations. Customers who have questions about this work may contact the MDOT SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits and other driving pattern changes and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
