(JULY 27, 2012) – The southern Carroll County town of Detour will live up to its name next month when repairs to a nearby railroad crossing require a several-day closure of Keysville Road just north of MD 77.

On Monday, Aug. 20, the Maryland Midland Railway will close Keysville Road at the railroad crossing. Weather permitting, the repairs will be complete and the road will reopen by the end of the day on Friday, Aug. 24.

During the closure, work crews will detour traffic using MD 77 (Middleburg Road), MD 194 (Francis Scott Key Highway) and Sixes Bridge Road. Maryland Midland Railway and the Maryland State Highway Administration thank motorists for their patience and cooperation. Anyone with questions about the project may contact Maryland Midland Railway at 410-775-7718.
