(September 27, 2013) – This Sunday night, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin temporarily closing lanes during overnight hours on southbound I-95 in Prince George’s County between MD 198 (Sandy Spring Road) and MD 200 (Intercounty Connector). The closures are necessary to allow crews to paint the new Contee Road bridge over I-95.

SHA will intermittently close lanes on southbound I-95 Sunday through Thursday nights—one lane at 7 p.m. and two lanes at 11 p.m. Triple lanes closures are possible although this will occur only one or two nights total in the next month. All lanes will be open no later than 5 a.m.

SHA encourages motorists to plan for extra commute time to avoid construction delays. As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone.
