(March 3, 2014) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) is performing routine maintenance on four State-maintained movable bridges during the month of March. Crews will work on site during the day and traffic may be impacted no longer than a normal opening for each bridge.  Outlined below are the dates and times for the routine bridge maintenance:

• Friday, March 7:MD 181 (Compromise Street) Bridge over Spa Creek in Anne Arundel County, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

• Thursday, March 12: US 50 Bridge over the Sinepuxent Bay (Harry W. Kelley Memorial Bridge) in Ocean City, Worcester County, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Thursday, March 27: MD 213 Bridge over the Chester River at the Queen Anne’s / Kent County line, 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Dates and time are weather dependent. This work is being performed as a part of bridge maintenance contracts with Covington Machine and Welding, Inc. of Annapolis.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving behavior to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
