(August 14, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is beginning a $150,000 maintenance project to repair concrete pads at four Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus stops on Security Boulevard (MD 122) in Baltimore County.  SHA’s contractor will work nights and weekends on Security Boulevard between I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and Rolling Road.  This section of Security Boulevard carries 40,000 vehicles per day.

Lane closures with flagging operations are permitted Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning.  On weekends, crews will pour and set new concrete at the bus stops; lane closures with flagging operations are permitted between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday. Travel lanes will remain closed with no apparent work while the concrete cures.

Flagpersons, portable variable message signs, arrow panels, cones and traffic barrels will guide motorists through the work zones.  The work is scheduled for completion by mid-September.  SHA’s contractor is Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg.

Those who have questions about the Security Boulevard project may contact the SHA District 4 Office – Maintenance Division at 410-229-2360, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by e-mail at shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.

SHA thanks everyone for driving safely through the work zone. As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone.
