Motorist Should Follow the Posted Detour and Plan Extra Drive Time

(November 10, 2016) –The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a week-long project to fill an abandoned mine drain that runs under MD 936 (Upper Georges Creek Road SW) in Allegany County next week.  The work is necessary to maintain the integrity of the roadway.  The work is necessary to maintain the integrity of the roadway.

Crews will close MD 936 between Ocean Hill Road and Cabin Run Road on Monday, November 14.  Crews will post signs to direct motorists to follow the detour that includes Cabin Run Road and MD 36 (New Georges Creek Road SW).  SHA expects to complete the work the week of Sunday November 20, weather permitting.

SHA awarded the $50,000 contract to Excavating Associates, Inc. of Ellerslie.
