(May 1, 2014) – Next week, the State Highway Administration (SHA) will pave two miles of MD 33 (Talbot Street) in the Town of St. Michaels, Talbot County.  Weather permitting crews will begin work on Sunday, May 4 and work five consecutive nights from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.  The project will significantly improve the ride quality for thousands of motorists on MD 33 from Perry Cabin Drive to Pea Neck Road.

SHA awarded the overlay contract to David A. Bramble, Inc., of Chestertown.  The contractor will use variable message boards, temporary signs, flaggers, and cones to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should plan extra time to move through the work zone during the $520,000 resurfacing project.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Saver Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
