Project Improves Safety, Accessibility for Pedestrians; Overnight Lane Closures Required on MD 140 between I-695 and Mt. Wilson Lane / Grey Rock Road
(March 25, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin overnight work Sunday, March 27, on a project improving the MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) intersection with Hooks Lane in the Woodholme area of Baltimore County. Work on MD 140 will take place between north of the Interstate-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and Mt. Wilson Lane / Grey Rock Road, and is expected to be completed in late June, weather permitting.
The work includes reconstruction of curbs, gutters, sidewalk ramps and driveway ramps, where needed; traffic signal equipment upgrades; installation of new crosswalk markings; and roadway paving where needed. Crews will work overnight along MD 140 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Temporary single-lane closures will be required during those periods to safely perform the work.
There also will be temporary lane closures on Hooks Lane between Greene Tree Road and MD 140, also between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Temporary work zone signs and reflective barrels will be in place along the work zones on MD 140 and Hooks Lane to safely guide all travelers through the work zone. Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, is the contractor performing the work.
The project is part of a $6.4 million areawide contract to improve safety, operations and accessibility on state highways in Baltimore and Harford counties to meet current federal and state Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
