(March 22, 2021) The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin removing a concrete barrier on I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) starting tonight.  The overnight work will take place between US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road) in the Catonsville area of Baltimore County.

For the next two weeks, motorists can expect single lane closures on I-695 between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. to allow crews to remove the concrete traffic barrier.

Crews will work on the following schedule, weather permitting:

  • I-695 Inner Loop - left lane closure between MD 144 and US 40:  Tonight, March 22; Tomorrow, March 23 and Sunday, March 28.
  • I-695 Outer Loop - left lane closure between US 40 and the area south of MD 144: Tomorrow, March 23, through Thursday, March 25; and Monday, March 29 through Wednesday, March 31.
  • I-695 Inner Loop - right lane closure between Edmondson Ave. and US 40: Apr. 1.

The traffic barrier removal work is part of the widening of the I-695 Outer Loop between south of US 40 and MD 144.  Learn more about the project HERE.
