​Weekend Project to Close MD 75 in Both Directions for Railroad Track, Roadway Surface Work

(May 16, 2022) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) announces that MD 75 (North Main Street) will be closed between East Elger Street and MD 75 (Green Valley Road) Between Friday, May 20 and Monday afternoon, May 23, in the Union Bridge area of Carroll County. The closure is necessary to allow Maryland Midland Railway to safely replace railroad tracks and the roadway surface.

Starting at 6 a.m. Friday, May 20, Maryland Midland Railway will close both lanes of MD 75 to remove and replace railroad tracks, grade the track bed and pave the roadway. MD 75 will be closed, and motorists will be detoured for the duration of the work. Maryland Midland Railway expects the work to be finished by 3 p.m. Monday, May 23.

Motorists on northbound and southbound MD 75 will be detoured using the following route:

• MD 75 to Shepherds Mill Road to Quaker Hill Road to East Locust Street, then back onto MD 75.

Larger vehicles such as trucks will be detoured using the following route:

• Those traveling to northbound MD 75 will take Shepherds Mill Road.
• Those traveling to southbound MD 75 will take Quaker Hill Road to Priestland Road to Marble Quarry Road to Lehigh Road to Peter Schriner Road to Cleamsonville Road to access MD 75.

Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained during the weekend work. For more information on the project, contact Steven Sams at Maryland Midland Railway at 608-234-7400.
