Partial Ramp Closures Necessary for Soil Survey Work

(December 29, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will perform soil testing and borings, which will require partial ramp closures at the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) and MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) interchange in Forestville next week. Crews will perform all work overnight and reopen lanes by 5 a.m. the following day, weather permitting.

Beginning Wednesday, January 3 at 9 p.m., through Friday, January 5 at 5 a.m., crews will close the auxiliary lane and one of the right lanes to perform the work. Crews will continue this work again on Sunday, January 7 at 9 p.m. through Friday, January 12 at 5 a.m.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associations, of Annapolis Junction, will use construction barrels, cones, and arrow boards to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Customers who have questions may contact the District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.

Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes, and slowdown in construction zones.
