Ramp Closures Necessary for Soil Survey Work; Drivers Advised to Plan Ahead

(January 24, 2024) – The State Highway Administration will perform work next week that will require temporary, overnight ramp closures and detours at the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) and MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) interchange in Forestville. Crews will perform soil testing and other activities to study potential future improvements.

All work will be performed overnight between Sunday, January 28, at 9 p.m., through Thursday, February 1 at 5 a.m., weather permitting. Work will conclude by 5 a.m. each morning. During the work, crews will close the auxiliary lane and one right lane.

State Highway Administration contractor Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, of Annapolis Junction, will use construction barrels, cones, and arrow boards to safely guide drivers through the work zone. Customers who have questions may contact the State Highway Administration District 3 Office at 301-513-7300 or toll-free at 1-800-749-0737.

Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused, look for reduced speed limits as well as driving pattern changes, and slow down in construction zones.
