The State Highway Administration began the MD 97 Planning and Environmental Linkage study in spring 2023. The review considers environmental, community and economic goals factors early in the planning stage. The results of the study are considered in the subsequent project development and design phases. The study is anticipated to be completed this summer and will help identify needs and recommend improvements to advance for design.

At the open house, information and results from an earlier survey and a virtual public meeting in October 2023 will be available for review. Preliminary concept maps based on traffic and safety data will be on display, and staff will be available to answer questions.

A study overview, as well as information about existing conditions, environmental features, corridor needs, preliminary findings, recommendations and next steps will be provided. There will be no formal presentation. Attendees may view the displays and concept maps at their own pace.

Details on the MD 97 study can be found on the Project Portal page. Information presented at the open house also will be available on the project page after the event. Additionally, the State Highway Administration is accepting public input through a survey on the project page.

Those requiring assistance to participate in the public open house, such as those seeking an interpreter for hearing/speech difficulties or assistance with the English language, may send an email to SHATitleVI@MDOTmaryland.gov in advance of the meeting. Please indicate the desired language in the subject line. An American Sign Language interpreter will be available at the public open house. Maryland Relay Service can assist teletype users at 7-1-1. Any questions about the meetings or general inquiries can be sent to the email above.
