Annual Highway Construction & Engineering Career Day

WHEN:      
Tuesday, October 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

WHERE:   
Frederick County Fairgrounds, 797 East Patrick Street
 
WHY:         
As part of MdQI’s continued educational outreach efforts, SHA and its industry partners seek to educate and enlighten high school students about career options and skills needed in civil engineering, construction, equipment maintenance or related fields. 

In support of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, Construction & Engineering Career Day provides students with hands-on opportunities with those who work in the field and first-hand experience through interactive workstations and displays.

Photo/Interview Opportunity: Tours of area asphalt and concrete plants; the recently-completed I-70/MD 85 interchange; engineering displays.

Media are asked to RSVP if planning to attend some of the day’s activities. 

Hands-on activities will be available in the lunch area, where students will obtain additional information about opportunities and careers in the industry. 

Directions:   
Take I-70 West to Exit 56 (East Patrick Street).  Follow directly to Monroe Avenue.  Make right on Monroe Avenue and enter “Gate 3” on the left.
