The Maryland Department of Transporation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) Office of Real Estate (ORE) Special Acquisitions Division oversees MDOT SHA’s outdoor advertising and junkyard control programs. It also assists with right-of-way acquisitions from other governmental agencies and public utilities. It acquires real estate for environmental mitigation sites. ​
