Drivers Should Plan for Additional Travel Time

(August 2, 2016) – Beginning Friday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m., CSX Transportation will close a section of MD 28 (Tuscarora Road) between Bowis Drive and Rock Hall Road in Frederick County for rail crossing repairs.  Weather permitting, CSX will re-open MD 28 by Tuesday, August 9th.

CSX Transportation is replacing deteriorated concrete panels at the railroad crossings and re-paving the railroad approaches.  The signed detour route includes New Design Road, Mountville Road and US 15.

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration reminds drivers to adhere to the posted speed limits and remain alert while driving.  With the work occurring during the weekend, drivers should plan for extra travel time to reach their destinations.  For more information, customers may call CSX Transportation at 1-877-835-5279 or the SHA District 7 Office at 301-624-8100.
