Overnight Work Will Install New Road Surface on Northbound MD 32 Ramp to Westbound I-70

(October 15, 2021) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform work to widen and install a new roadway surface on a section of northbound MD 32 at westbound I-70 in Howard County from Monday night, October 18, into Tuesday morning, October 19.

Starting at 9 p.m. Monday, crews will close the ramp at the traffic light on northbound MD 32 at the turn for westbound I-70. The overnight operation will be complete by 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. Motorists will be detoured to the next intersection at Livestock Road, about 1,000 feet north, and make a U-turn onto southbound MD 32 to access westbound I-70.

The work is part of the $127 million MD 32 Phase II widening project that began in 2019 and is expected to be complete in 2022. The project will construct an additional travel lane in both directions of MD 32 between Linden Church Road and the I-70 ramps.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 or 911 from their mobile device for roadside assistance.
