Single-Lane Closure Required in Both Directions One Day Only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(July 11, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will make one-day repairs to an area effected by a failed drainage pipe on US 50 (John Hanson Highway) near MD 665 (Aris T. Allen Boulevard) in Annapolis on Tuesday, July 12, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists can expect closure of the left lane and shoulder in both directions of US 50 during the repair process to allow crews to safely fill a void caused by the failed pipe.

Since the void was discovered last month, MDOT SHA steel-plated the area and confined the void to the left shoulder on eastbound US 50. On Tuesday, weather permitting, crews will pump concrete flowable fill in the void, which is about 9 feet long, 9 feet wide and 9 feet deep. Motorists traveling in either direction of US 50 during the July 12 work period are encouraged to allow extra commuting time and please slow down in the work zone.
In the days following the repair, crews will return to reroute the drainage pipe to ensure drainage from the highway. Motorists can expect possible off-peak single lane closures on MD 665 with no direct impacts to US 50.
