Westbound I-70 at Westbound US 340/Southbound US 15 (Exit 52) to be Closed Overnight Sunday

(August 11, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform overnight work for one night only on Sunday, August 14, along westbound I-70 at westbound US 340 and southbound US 15 (Exit 52) to replace guardrail that was recently damaged in a crash.

Westbound I-70 will be closed between 10 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday to allow crews to safely perform the work. A detour will direct motorists to Exit 52. The northbound I-270 ramp to westbound I-70 will be reduced from two travel lanes to one travel lane.

MDOT SHA’s Frederick Shop will use electronic signs, road signs, cones, and barrels in place to alert motorists about the work zone and guide them through the detour.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
