(January 13, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will activate new traffic signals at US 1 (Conowingo Road) and MD 222 (Susquehanna River Road) near the Conowingo Dam and Port Deposit in Cecil County Thursday, Jan. 14.

The new signals will improve intersection safety by facilitating left turns to and from MD 222. Additional features of the project include a “red signal ahead” advance warning beacon on southbound US 1. The signals will also feature enhancements that can vary signal timing in response to an approaching vehicle’s speed and location. This will help ensure the intersection is clear before other drivers get a green light.
