(May 11, 2021) – A new temporary traffic pattern begins tomorrow on MD 151 (Sparrows Point Boulevard) as Tradepoint Atlantic (TPA) replaces a water line underneath northbound MD 151 in Baltimore County.

Starting Wednesday at 7 a.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close northbound MD 151 between the 1500 block of Sparrows Point Boulevard and the MD 151 bridge over Wharf Road. After 1 p.m., two-way traffic, one lane in each direction, will be in place on southbound MD 151 until the project’s expected completion in fall 2021.

TPA’s water main replacement is adjacent to MDOT SHA’s project to replace three bridges at the MD 151/Wharf Road interchange.  Learn more about the interchange improvement project HERE.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
