Overnight Work will Replace Light Poles Along 1-Mile Section of Roadway

(September 23, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project this Sunday, September 26, that will improve lighting on US 15 (Jefferson National Pike) in Frederick County. Two new light poles, one on northbound US 15 and one on southbound US 15, will be installed to replace previous ones that had been knocked down along a 1-mile section between the US 40 interchange and MD 180 (Jefferson Pike).

The overnight work is scheduled Sunday, September 26, through Thursday, September 30, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. The project is expected to be completed within the week, weather permitting.

The right lane and shoulders will be closed during the overnight work. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Lighting Maintenance Inc., will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and lane closures.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
