Daytime Work Includes Repairing Potholes on Eight Miles of Roadway

(October 27, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project on Monday, November 1 to improve the roadway surface on MD 32 (Sykesville Road) in Carroll County. The daytime work will include repairing potholes, cracks and other defects on MD 32 between MD 97 (New Washington Road) and the Liberty Reservoir bridge south of Miners Ridge Road, a span of eight miles. The work will improve safety and provide a smoother driving surface on that stretch of MD 32.

The project is scheduled for Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is expected to be complete in December, weather permitting. Crews will use a flagging operation as they move along the roadway to perform the work. MDOT SHA will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
