Motorists Can Expect a Multiple Lane Closure During Non-Peak Hours Tuesday

(January 30, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close two lanes on northbound I-81 at the West Virginia state line in Williamsport from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31, to allow crews to safely make pavement repairs to the center lane. The work is weather permitting, and will not impact southbound I-81.

MDOT SHA will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the lane closures. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through the work zone, and are asked to slow down and stay alert to help protect themselves and the workers. C. William Hetzer Inc., of Hagerstown, will perform the work.

MDOT SHA reminds motorists to check their vehicles this winter to make sure they are ready for the weather. Make sure tires have adequate tread and radiator hoses are free of leaks or defects. Also, make sure you have a full reservoir of coolant. It is also a good idea to keep a survival bag on hand that includes a protein bar, flares or other warning lights, and a blanket.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
