(February 25, 2015) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) reminds motorists to plan ahead for Thursday morning as another winter storm may impact the morning rush hour. Please stay alert for the latest forecasts. Currently the storm is expected to impact southern Maryland and the lower Eastern Shore, with the possibility of the snow reaching the Baltimore/Washington metro areas.

“Another storm is forecast to strike the region during the busy morning commute and although at this time snow is not expected to reach this area, it only takes light to moderate snow to have a significant impact on the heavily traveled metro areas,” said SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters.  “If you make preparations for travel by double checking the forecast, and using sound judgment you can reach your destination safely.”

To date, SHA has spent $87 million and used 243,000 tons of salt statewide. SHA's Coordinated Highway Action Response Team (CHART) crews will be on patrol to assist with disabled vehicles and help keep traffic moving through the storm.
